Clare Bowen

I am a landscape and seascape artist who paints across the Isle of Wight.  I like to paint en plein air to capture the feeling of the place and to celebrate the sense of space which can be enjoyed across the Island.  I frequently revisit the same places to consider how they change with the changing tides, season, or light.  

I largely paint with oils or acrylics, appreciating their fluidity and the ability to layer colours to reflect the abundance of nature.  I typically work with a palette knife to encourage a fresh, immediate style, sometimes leaning towards abstraction.
