Sheila Ross

Sheila Ross is an English installation artist, photographer, writer, graphic designer and Zen practitioner who recently returned to the UK after living and working in New York City for nearly 40 years. Trained at the Sculpture School of St. Martin’s School of Art in London, she went to graduate school at Hunter College, the City University of New York. She showed at the feminist art collective, AIR Gallery, while in New York, and was senior designer for Fordham University.

Her essay on her time in the St. Martin's sculpture school appears in the book, The Locked Room, Four Years That Shook Art Education, 1969-73 (MIT Press, 2020).Her book, Digging in the Earth to Find the Blue Sky: Interfaith Zen Practice in Pandemic and War, is about to be published independently by the Raft of Fools Press.
