Gareth Rees Upholsterer

Gareth Rees is an upholsterer and teacher with over 30 years experience working with traditional and contemporary furniture. His work is hands-on and skill-led, with a strong focus on structure, materials and fine detail. He is Director of Training for the Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers (AMUSF), Examination Secretary for The Guild of Traditional Upholsterers (GTU) and sits on the panel of the Trade and Education Committee for the Worshipful company of Upholders. He lectures and teaches around the world, including through Upholstery Education in the United States and was a Finalist for the Heritage Crafts 2025 "Trainer of the year award". In 2023 he was awarded the Masters Certificate from the Worshipful company of Upholders for services to the trade.

His work reflects a lifetime spent at the bench, solving problems through making. He is keen on passing craft skills and ideas on to a new generation.
