About

Drawing profound inspiration from the shores of the Isle of Wight, mixed-media artist Wendy Welsford transforms discarded beach finds into striking, environmentally conscious art. Her sculptural assemblages breathe new life into coastal detritus, utilizing innovative techniques such as deconstructing and knitting with salvaged marine rope.

Wendy uses found items because they are unique to each piece. She uses her intricately crafted artwork as a natural catalyst for conversations about plastic pollution and protecting our shorelines. Her celebrated sculpture 'Hurricane Irma' has already captured the imagination of the local community, touring various locations across the Island.

Operating out of a studio that resembles a true Aladdin’s cave of coastal curiosities, Wendy invites visitors not just to view her art, but to connect over the fascinating stories behind the treasures she rescues from the tide.
